On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” John 2:1-3 (NKJV)
This story records the very first miracle of Jesus on earth. It was a wedding and Jesus’ mother was invited, so also Jesus and His disciples. They must have been important guests at the occasion because Jesus’ mother was one of the first to know when wine got finished. The wedding in this scripture depicts the commemoration of a new beginning which could be a new home, a new business or even a project.
In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will spread a wonderful feast for all the people of the world. It will be a delicious banquet with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.
Isaiah 25:6 (NLT)
Wine in the Bible is a symbol of celebration, joy and of GOD’s Blessing. There is no banquet without wine; and the longer the wine, the sweeter it becomes. We were not told how sweet the first wine that was served at this wedding was, but in the midst of their celebration, this very important drink got finished. It takes time to brew wine, especially one that is sweet. Are there good things that have depreciated in your life? Is there anything that used to be sweet in your life but has changed its taste? Are you starting a new venture, beginning a new home and you need the miraculous? Invite Jesus to that situation today, call on Him and He will come through for you.
I thank GOD because He is the Author and Finisher of my faith; He is my Fountain of life, my Source and my Sustainer. I make Jesus the Center of my life; He guides my affairs; therefore, nothing in my life will depreciate and GOD’s blessing on my life is on the increase, in Jesus Name.
